MacOS X 10.3.9 and later will recognize the SIO_SOCKET type and when a socket is created on OSX the type changes to PF_UNIX so the socket is now accessible in the process. This was previously untested. If your printer supports a socket and is recognizable by OSX, you should be able to get around this issue.
1. Access your browser's Print dialog box (or the Print Center if you have installed one). 2. Select the printer that you are using as your default printer. 3. Click "Edit" for the printer name. 4. Click "Reset". 5. Click OK. 6. Restart your system.
If you don't have a Mac that has the new system monitoring of the default printer, you will need to do this manually. You may also be able to reboot into the Diagnose screen to see if your Mac is picking up your new print queue.
1. Open the Print dialog box (or run the Printer Setup Assistant if you have installed one). 2. Select the printer that you want to use as your default printer. 3. Click the "Options" button on the upper right and select "Set as Default". 4. Click OK.
Most HP printers appear to be compatible with iPrint, but you will probably need to go to HP's website and download the driver, or go through each printer model specific steps, provided with your driver.
